The main problem with laser removal is that it is so expensive, and if you are on a tight budget it may not be practical to do so. Acne scar removal can be expensive.

If you aren't able to spend a lot of money then it is probably worth visiting your doctor to find out what he can do for you. In general it is not a good idea to buy products off the shelves as they are generally a waste of money and may actually make your skin look worse believe it or not!.

Laser Treatment for acne scars

It is important to have a plastic surgeon who is trained in laser resurfacing for acne scars, and one who also has done a fair number of these procedures if you want to obtain the best cosmetic results possible. Laser resurfacing for acne scars also offers the advantage of having a shorter healing period than the older procedure of dermabrasion, in which the outer layer of the epidermis is removed by abrasion, which often meant that it took months for new unscarred skin to grow back.

Laser resurfacing is much more precise as the plastic surgeon only burns away certain areas of the face that contain the scar tissue, while normal tissue is left relatively intact. As lasers become even more precise and advanced, and as plastic surgeons become even more adept at laser resurfacing procedures for acne scars, the procedure will likely become increasing more effective, and popular, for reducing the appearance of acne scars. Getting rid of acne scars is easy with a laser!

Acne affects lives

Acne affects a surprisingly large percentage of people, perhaps as high as eighty percent, of the American population at least once during their lifetime develops acne. If you have had moderate or severe acne, or "popped" several pustules yourself, then you might be left with a large number of pot marks or acne scars. These scars will remain for life, unless you decide to surgically correct them. Fortunately, there are a variety of surgical techniques used by plastic surgeons, many which use new cutting edge laser technology, to remove the scars.

A plastic surgeon will use a laser scalpel to remove only the top layer of skin, enough to remove the acne scars, but not enough to cause serious injury to the skin. Usually, the patient is placed under general anesthesia for the procedure, and is given pain medication after the surgery. People who have had this surgery may need to spend a couple of days recovering. While the laser surgery is effective in remodeling many acne scars, some acne scars are too deeply embedded in the skin for any type of treatment to fully remove them. The laser resurfacing operation may take only one operation, or a series of operations may be performed.
